Before DB Studio, I worked as an advertising creative in large advertising agencies in London, Edinburgh and Hong Kong. All my clients were big brands with big budgets. I wondered — what about the companies without big budgets? Where do they go when they want their marketing to work? I looked further and found that these companies often had to rely on lots of different sources to produce their marketing and as result, it lacked consistency. Much of their marketing was thrown together — and it showed.
There just weren’t any creative marketing companies around to help these companies, so I thought I would start one. I set up DB Advertising in 1997 and began building a mix of customers from various sectors. At first advertising was our main focus, however that very quickly grew to designing the full range of marketing items, from print to web.
In time, we knew we had to consider our own brand and as there is so much more to us than just advertising, hence the evolution to DB Studio. A studio is a room where creative work is produced. We think this fits us perfectly, as producing the best creative work is always at the top of our list of priorities — whether we’re designing an ad, a postcard or commissioning photography for a catalogue. Because I’m from a creative background, I have an understanding of how designers work — so there’s a high standard of creativity throughout our business.
We have built a great reputation and we’ve even won a few awards along the way.
We’re now the company I’ve dreamed of.
